Bir mutfağa girildiğinde görülen fuiinlerin çoğu seramik esaslı malzemelerdir. Bu ürünler arasmda sofra eşyası grubunda genellikle earthenware, stoneware veya sert porselen fuiinler sıklıkla göze çarpmaktadır. Pratik olarak bir parçanın stoneware, earthenware veya porselen olduğunu ilk olarak eğer porselen ise porselen yarı saydam bir malzemedir, stoneware ve earthenware saydam değildir. Porselen bir parçayı ışığa doğru tutulduğunda ışığı geçirir. İkinci olarak stoneware veya earthenware ise; - parça ağır ve yoğun ise stoneware'dir. Parçanın sırsız bölgesine bakıldığında bu kısımlar parlak ve koyu renkli yapıya sahip ise bu parça stoneware'dir. Değil ise earthenware'dir. Stoneware Çizelge2.1 'dende görüldüğü gibi oldukça yüksek mukavemete sahiptir. Stoneware :firında, buzdolabmda, mikrodalga :firında ve blaşık makinasında rahatlıkla kullanılabilir. Earthenware ise çok yüksek ve çok düşük sıcaklıklarda kullanılamaz, bu gibi durumlar ürünün çatlamasına sebep olur. Stoneware ürünler belli ölçülerde sıcaklık değişimlerine karşı dayanıklıdır. Stoneware belli hammaddelerin belli oranlarlarda karıştırılıp şekiilendirildikten sonra yüksek sıcaklıklarda pişirilmesi ile elde edilen bir üründür.

Stoneware products are resistant to temperature changes to a certain extent. Stoneware is a product obtained by firing certain raw materials at high temperatures after mixing and shaping in certain proportions.
