Sometimes you can fix faulty products or re-bake with a much more interesting result than you originally imagined. However, it is often easier to make a new product and hone your skills in the process than to try to repair a product that has gone bad.
Experienced ceramists know that mud and glaze are unpredictable. That's why test tiles / trial samples are so important. That's why they never use a new secret in great shape, especially if it's a bit of work to do. They take notes to make the results as predictable as possible. But they still have to throw their work away from time to time.
It is really frustrating if a product you have been working on for a long time breaks on the way to the oven or the glaze comes out wrong. But the sooner you learn to look forward to the next work rather than trying to fix the faulty product, the sooner your skills will improve, so most of your next products will be great!
